The Bandar Baru Klang Catalytic Development Master Plan International Design Competition 2025/2026 is now open! We warmly invite students worldwide in architecture, planning, landscape, engineering, and related fields to join this creative and visionary journey to revitalize Bandar Baru Klang.
Competition Details
Theme: Think Beyond the City—Reimagine Klang’s Future
Location: Bandar Baru Klang, Selangor, Malaysia
Mission: Propose a catalytic master plan and forward-looking architectural design for a 32-acre residual site
Eligibility: Current students (undergraduate/postgraduate) from universities worldwide, either individually or in teams of up to 6 members (including both students and advisors), with no more than 2 advisors.
Key Dates:
• Registration Deadline: 31 January 2026
• Site Visit & Heritage Tour: 21 February – 1 March 2026
• Submission Deadline: 31 May 2026
• Shortlisted Presentations: 27–28 July 2026
• Winners Announcement: 29 July 2026
Prizes:
• Champion: RM 12,000 + Trophy + Certificate
• 1st Runner-Up (x2): RM 8,000 + Trophy + Certificate
• 2nd Runner-Up (x3): RM 5,000 + Trophy + Certificate
• Merit Awards (x2): RM 2,500 + Certificate
• Honorable Mentions (x5): RM 1,000 + Certificate

Heritage & Site Visit Programme
We are organizing a special 9-day, 8-night site visit, taking you through Malaysia’s iconic cultural cities and the competition site to inspire your design ideas.
Date: 21 February – 1 March 2026
Itinerary: Melaka, Penang, Kampar, Klang, Kuala Lumpur
Open to: All current students (undergraduate/postgraduate), all disciplines welcome
Fees (incl. 8% Tax):
Student (Shared Room - Double/Triple): USD 783.30
Lecturer (Single Room): USD 588.60
