
The conference is being held at the Institute of International Relations on 20-21 April.
The opening ceremony featured Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Russia Park Ho, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Deputy Director for International Cooperation of the Institute of International Relations Albina Imamutdinova, and others.
Vice-Rector Alishev noted, “Educational cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea is developing robustly. International ties are based on the proximity of long-term strategic interests and are characterized by mutual understanding.” He expressed hope that the conference will make contributions to interregional and international cooperation; the speaker also thanked Mr Park Ho and Director of the Center for Advancement of Korean Studies Yang Yeong-gyun. The Vice-Rector thanked Chairman of the Center for Korean Studies of KFU Go Yeong-cheol for his contribution to the organizing effort.
Consul General Park Ho said, “KFU has reached leading positions in Korean studies – opened its research center and has organized a number of events. Cultural exchange between our countries is ever growing. More and more schools open Korean language courses, so many more Russian secondary schoolers will study the language in the future.”
Other contributors to have offered their greetings were Director of the Rostov-on-Don Branch of the Center for Korean Cultural Studies Lee Si-yeong, Head of the Center for Korean Studies of Volgograd State University Alexander Suslov, and Dean of the Faculty of Eurasia and the East of Chelyabinsk State Unviersity Vera Budykina.
