Seifullin University and Belarusian State Agricultural Academy Strengthen Cooperation in Agricultural Education and Science

November 2, 2025 — A delegation from the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (KATRU), led by Chairman of the Board – Rector Kanat Tireuov, paid an official visit to the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (BSAA).

The KATRU delegation included Ye. Akhmetov, Director of the Institute of Engineering and Food Technologies; Almagul Mergalimova, Director of the Institute of Energy; Nurdos Karinbayev, Director of the Department for Youth Policy and Social Work; and Asem Saurambekova, Deputy Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Academic Mobility.

The visit took place within the framework of the 10th Meeting of the Working Commission on Coordination of the Scientific and Educational Consortium between Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutes of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science, and agricultural technologies.

The parties discussed key areas of collaboration, including the development and implementation of joint educational programs, scientific research projects, and exchange of experience in innovative technologies and workforce training for the agro-industrial sector.

Rector Kanat Tireuov highlighted the strong scientific and practical potential of BSAA — the oldest agricultural university in Belarus, founded in 1840, and expressed confidence that upcoming agreements will serve as a solid foundation for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two universities.

During the meeting with Rector Vitaly Velikanov, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences and Associate Professor, both sides discussed directions for bilateral cooperation, including joint educational programs, academic mobility for students and faculty, and collaborative scientific conferences and publications.

Special attention was given to the preparation of an agreement to launch a joint bachelor’s degree program in “Aquaculture and Aquatic Bioresources”, aimed at training specialists in fisheries, sustainable use of water resources, and aquatic organism cultivation technologies.

During the visit, the Seifullin University delegation toured the academy’s infrastructure, academic buildings, research laboratories, experimental fields, and training farms. The Belarusian State Agricultural Academy is the oldest agricultural higher education institution in Eastern Europe, with over 15,000 students studying in 26 academic programs across 10 faculties, including agronomy, engineering, economics, veterinary medicine, and biotechnology.

Rector Kanat Tireuov emphasized that the experience of Belarusian colleagues holds special value for Kazakhstan in the context of modernizing agricultural education, implementing innovative technologies, and developing the human resource potential of the agricultural sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed mutual interest in long-term partnership, aimed at strengthening the integration of educational and scientific systems of Kazakhstan and Belarus, and promoting joint research initiatives and academic mobility programs that address the contemporary challenges of the agricultural sphere.
