On November 12, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) hosted the jury meeting of the 2025 Belt and Road International Student Competition on Digital Architectural Design. The meeting brought together 11 experts and scholars from universities in China and abroad—including China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Central University of Finance and Economics, University of East London, and Moscow State University of Civil Engineering —as well as from Eden Eco-Education and International Living Demonstration Zone and Tianjin Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. HU Yue, National Master of Engineering Design and Geotechnique Investigation, Professor at BUCEA’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and Chief Architect of Beijing Institute of Architectural Design Co., Ltd., served as Chair of the Jury. The meeting was chaired by Vice President CHEN Zhaohui. Representatives from the Department of External Affairs and the School of Architecture and Urban Planning were in attendance.

On behalf of the university, CHEN Zhaohui extended a warm welcome to all experts. She noted that the competition is a flagship event under the framework of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC), playing an important role in advancing architectural education cooperation and youth exchange among Belt and Road participating countries.
Since its inaugural edition in 2020, the Belt and Road International Student Competition on Digital Architectural Design has been successfully held six times.
The 2025 competition adopts the theme “Symbiosis • Regeneration”, with the Eden Eco-Education and International Living Demonstration Zone in Tianjin serving as the designated site. For the first time, the competition integrates a real project site to promote industry–education collaboration. This year’s competition received more than 60 submissions from 17 universities, attracting over 400 participants.

From October 21 to 25, the jury panel shortlisted 26 entries for the final review.
During the jury session, the experts evaluated the works based on design creativity, technological application, and cultural expression, and selected the award-winning projects on site. The results will be announced in due course through the official website of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium and other platforms.
