About BUCEA
Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) is the only university in Beijing specializing in architecture. It is a distinctive, high-level university jointly established by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. With engineering as its core and a strong architectural identity, BUCEA serves as a key base for talent development and technological innovation in urban planning, construction, management, and architectural heritage preservation in China.
The university offers a complete talent cultivation system spanning bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels. It is home to over 10,000 students and excels in academic strength, with three disciplines—Engineering, Environment/Ecology, and Chemistry—ranked in the global top 1% by ESI. Among its 35 undergraduate programs, 25 are recognized as national or municipal first-class majors, and 11 are accredited by international engineering education bodies or national authorities. BUCEA hosts 5 first-tier doctoral programs, 1 professional doctorate, 2 postdoctoral stations, 14 master’s programs, and 12 professional master’s categories. Disciplines such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Surveying Science and Technology have been designated as Beijing High-Precision Disciplines.
BUCEA is deeply committed to global engagement, partnering with 136 institutions across 53 countries and regions. In 2017, it founded the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC), which now includes 101 members from 33 countries and regions. As China’s only university offering a full educational chain in architectural heritage conservation—from undergraduate to postdoctoral levels—BUCEA has built a unique international talent development platform led by architecture, civil engineering, environmental science, and geomatics.
In 2025, the establishment of the Luban Global School further integrates industry technology needs with global educational excellence, dedicated to cultivating world-class engineers with an international vision. Scholarships
Eligible international students may apply for the Beijing Government Scholarship. The university offers a variety of scholarships, including full and partial awards, which can cover tuition fees, accommodation, insurance, and a portion of living expenses. The International Student Scholarship Review Committee of the university adheres to the principles of transparency, objectivity, and fairness in the selection process, awarding scholarships based on academic excellence and overall qualifications.
